These delicious Accordion Style Gochujang Tofu Steaks are marinated with dark soy sauce, maple syrup, and gochujang, then baked to perfection. Serve them with a fresh salad and rice for a delightful meal.
Slice the block of tofu into three large pieces and then cut each piece in half lengthways to make 6 smaller tofu ‘steaks’.
Combine dark soy sauce, maple syrup, gochujang, and juice from 1 lime in a bowl. Grate one garlic clove into the bowl and stir.
Preheat the oven to 200°C fan / 425°F and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Slice the tofu between two chopsticks vertically and then at a 45 degree angle at 5mm intervals.
Transfer the tofu to the lined baking tray and brush half of the gochujang glaze over the tofu, reserving half for later.
Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, reglaze with remaining sauce, reserving some for serving, and bake for another 10-20 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, combine cucumber, red onion, most of the coriander leaves, salt, pepper, and juice from the remaining lime half. Grate the remaining garlic clove half into the salad and toss.
Serve the tofu with cooked rice and the salad, pouring the remaining gochujang glaze over the steaks. Finish with sesame seeds and remaining coriander.
